Civic Square Design Study survey
The City of St. Catharines has initiated a study to identify a preferred vision for the re-development of James Street, from King Street to Church Street, into a Civic Square area. Through the study, a recommended concept will be developed that will support the City’s goal of providing a community gathering place within the downtown core. The study area is highlighted in red below.
The Civic Square is intended to be an inclusive outdoor pedestrian and recreational space that functions as a community gathering place that could host a range of special events such as festivals, markets, and live performances.
The City is currently looking for your preliminary feedback on three high-level options for what to do with James Street:
- Maintain James Street mostly “as-is”.
- Close the street to vehicles and make it a park / plaza.
- Maintain vehicle access, but as a flex street that can be closed for events.
Each of the options will be presented to you in this survey for your feedback. This questionnaire takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete and closes on Jan. 2, 2024. Thank you for your time.
