The City of St. Catharines is planning to carry out the reconstruction of:
Forest Hill Road from Hillcrest Avenue to South Drive;
Hillcrest Avenue from 120 metres north of Rockcliffe Road to south limit;
Rockcliffe Road from Hillcrest Avenue to Highland Avenue
This will include:
Reconstruction of the roadways, including the replacement of curb and the replacement/installation of sidewalks;
Replacement of existing cast iron watermain with new PVC watermain, including the replacement of any substandard water services up to property line;
Replacement of existing sanitary sewers with new PVC sanitary sewers;
Installation of new storm sewer;
Restoration of any boulevards and driveways disturbed during construction.
Construction is expected to begin by March 2025 and the duration of construction will be approximately six months.
There will be some impacts on residents and businesses during construction. Lane restrictions and traffic controls will be in place throughout the duration of construction, as necessary. At certain times there may be limited access to driveways and parking areas. The supply of water could also be disrupted at times. Advance notice will be given prior to all planned water disruptions. The City will work with the contractor to minimize these occurrences and limit impacts as much as possible.
Feedback and Questions
In March 2024, the City conducted a Public Information Centre (PIC) for this project. The comments that came out of that PIC were taken into account and some modifications to the design were made. Prior to the start of construction, the City is providing the opportunity for residents to review the proposed plan and ask any questions they may have.
Residents are invited to give feedback and ask questions via the comment tab below. The project team will work to reply to any project-related questions. With the exception of personal information, all comments will be part of the public record.
Feedback will be accepted until Nov. 30, 2024.
