Consultation has concluded for this project at this time.
Different components of existing municipal infrastructure and road structure on Hampstead Place (from Carlton Street to Manchester Avenue) are nearing the end of their useful life. As a result, the City of St. Catharines is planning to undertake work to replace and install new infrastructure in 2022. The work that is to be completed as part of this construction project includes:
Replacing the existing cast iron watermain with new PVC watermains, including the replacement of any substandard water services within the road allowance to the property line
Replacing the existing clay sanitary sewer with new PVC sewers
Installation of new catch basins to collect storm water at either end
Installation of a new road structure including new barrier curb and asphalt pavement combined with a new 1.5-metre-wide sidewalk on the east side
In the areas of the service replacements and new installations, reconstruction of the road structure and replacement of the top course asphalt
Boulevards and driveways will be restored if disturbed during construction
Construction is expected to begin by mid to late August 2022 and the duration of construction will be approximately two and a half months.
There will be some impacts to residents and businesses during construction. Lane restrictions and traffic controls will be in place throughout the duration of construction, as necessary. At certain times there may be limited access to driveways and parking areas. The supply of water could also be disrupted at times. Advance notice will be given prior to all planned water disruptions. The City will work with the contractor to minimize these occurrences and limit impacts as much as possible.
Prior to the start of construction, the City is seeking the input of area residents on the proposed plans.
