Port Dalhousie Harbour Area Developments
Consultation has concluded for the Port Dalhousie Harbour Area Project.
Developments at 57 Lakeport Road, 61 and 63 Lakeport Road, and redesign and reconstruction of Lockhart Point park
Significant private investment is being made in the west harbour area of Port Dalhousie to develop two new mixed-use condominium projects. The private developments will be complemented by public realm and open space improvements, including a redesigned Lockhart Point park.
A new eight-storey mixed use building is currently under construction at 57 Lakeport Road where Branch 350 of the Royal Canadian Legion used to stand. It will include ground floor commercial space for use by the Royal Canadian Legion, plus 49 condominium apartment units.
On the adjacent site to the south, 61 and 63 Lakeport Road, a vacant industrial heritage building once operated by Lincoln Fabrics will be restored and expanded as part of an adaptive re-use project. The nine-storey mixed-use building will include a restaurant and café, six live-work units, and 117 condominium apartment units.
As a condition of approval, each developer will be required to make significant improvements to the public realm. Public parking areas will be replaced and expanded, Lockhart Point park will be reconfigured, the Harbour Walk will be widened, and a new public promenade and park will be developed.
Two separate Applications for Site Plan Approval have been submitted to the City since the related Zoning By-law Amendments were approved by Council in 2018. Those previous planning approvals established the heights and setbacks of the buildings and the mix of land uses, including the use of some public property to provide parking and public realm improvements.
